How we make money
Right now, we don’t. No brand pays to be listed, no shop pays us a commission, and you pay nothing extra to buy here.
BrandsPay nothing to be on a list, a brand page or in Picks.
ShopsAre paid by you directly, at their own checkout or through Shop Pay. We take no cut.
YouPay each shop the price it sets. We add no fee.
What a shop can see
Links and orders we send to a shop carry a tag (utm_source=askaround) so the shop can see the visit or order came from here. That is how we will one day show a shop what we sent it. The tag earns us nothing today.
The rule money never moves
If Ask Around ever earns money, it will be named on this page before it starts, and it will never change an order. Every list is ranked by one published rule: best-reviewed product first.
- 1For each brand we ask Shopify’s catalog for up to 40 of its products and take the best-rated one with at least 100 reviews.
- 2Brands are ordered by that product’s star rating, highest first. A tie goes to the product with more reviews.
- 3A brand with no product at 100 reviews in what came back goes after the rest, in name order.
- 4The order is worked out each time the page opens, so it moves when the shops’ ratings do. No brand paid to be on a list or to move up one.
